Velogista the cargo bike delivery company from Kreuzberg – a competition for delivery vans

Velogista is a bicycle courier company from Berlin. Originally founded in 2011 the company owner Martin Seißler also acquired electric cargo bicycles in late 2013. These cargo bikes are electrified and can transport a Euro-pallet and weights up to 250 kg. The producer of these strong work horses is the German company Radkutsche, located South of Stuttgart.

Currently Velogista has 13 members of staff and a fleet of two cargo bikes. The cargo bikes deliver goods to around 30 customers, mainly restaurants and beverage stores. But Martin Seißler aims to increase the fleet of cargo bikes to 25 by 2017. In order to achieve this he is starting a crowdfunding campaign in October 2014.
Apart from being environmentally friendly and low-priced for customers the company is set up as a cooperative that prides itself to care about working conditions and pays staff members well. This is a concept that is usually not adopted by big parcel delivery companies that usually pay their employees badly and expect horrendous working hours from them.
