EU transport ministers acknowledge benefits of cyclingLast week the EU transport ministers came together on an meeting to discuss cycling as a mode of transport for the first time.
The meeting resulted in a declaration which identifies cycling as a climate friendly mode of transport. The analysis from the Cyclelogistics baseline study were also mentioned during the meeting. The document proposes three actions for the European Commission: to integrate cycling in the multimodal transport policy, to develop a EU-level strategic document on cycling, to set up a European point for cycling. Member states, cities and regions are also asked to contribute via national points for cycling, and to include cycling networks in infrastructure projects.
