The Municipality of Rimini Celebrates “Cargo Bike Revolution”
October, 2 2019
The Municipality of Rimini is pursuing sustainable mobility policies that aim to promote active mobility by increasing the network of cycle paths, pedestrian areas, and areas 30. It is thanks to these efforts that parents are increasingly using cargo bikes to bring their children to school.
A Cargo bike is for everyone
A special event was organized within the European cargo bike project, in collaboration with Rimini Loves Bike, Urban Cyclists and the organizer Stefano Sesta. The event was held on Sunday 15th September in Rimini on the occasion of the Italian Bike Festival: the most important Italian event dedicated to the world of cycling from 13th to 15th September 2019.

Cargo Bike Revolution (the name of the event) was the first cargo bike rally held in Rimini. The rally started at Piazzale Kennedy on the Rimini waterfront and led through the historic center and back towards the sea through. 25 people joined with their cargo bike, some of them rented one for the occasion. A unique shop selling cargo bikes sold three cargo bikes that day!
This was the perfect opportunity to take stock of the problems related to cargo bike infrastructure and to show that more space needs to be dedicated to a vehicle that is not only a passion and a convenient mean of transport but an entrepreneurial possibility.
Talks about cargo bikes and sustainable mobility were continued on Monday 16th September at the Innovation square, in Corso d’Augusto 62. A special workshop was held for stakeholders to meet citizens, families, organizations, institutions, teachers and companies. It focused on Rimini PUMS, sustainable mobility, e-scooters and cargo bikes. All these initiatives are included in the European project, CCCB CityChangerCargoBike, of the Horizon 2020 program, in which the Municipality of Rimini is a partner. 50 people were present at the workshop.
